Description
1861 Maryland
After her father is killed in the Civil War, Bond Stockard is left homeless unless she’s willing to accept a neighboring man’s offer to become his live in mistress. Refusing, Bond steals one of his coaches and intends to escape to her relative’s home in New Orleans. It’s a dangerous trek, especially with the war going on, yet desperate times require desperate measures, and she’s willing to risk it. However, during a blizzard, her driver loses his way, and the carriage overturns down an embankment.
The following morning, while making their way to Washington to meet with President Lincoln, Major Robert Ashley and his brother Captain Josh Calub come across the coach wherein Bond lies unconscious, nearly frozen to death. After taking her to their nearby home, Robert learns her father, General William Stockard was the dying man he’d promised he’d care for his family. After circumstances beyond Robert’s control finds himself enamored with his young charge, he urges marriage by proxy once she awakens.
Concerned for Bond’s reputation, Robert’s mother forces the wedding to take place immediately upon Bond’s recovery. However, with the aid of a jealous ex-girlfriend, she once again escapes another man’s clutches and hurries south.
A series of misunderstandings, along with the cruelty of war cause Bond’s life to become embroiled with lies, lusts, jealousy, and hatred. Will she ever find a man she can love and trust? You’ll only learn her fate by reading her story…

A really gifted writer. The trials of Bond stockard show the fortitude of women and what we endure for love. The war in the background made for compelling reading. Robert Ashley, a man torn between love and country. Really well written.
Meredith Greer –
Loved the story. Young lady left to make her way during the Civil War where most can’t be trusted. Great lovestory. Unexpected ending. Love the prelude to Honor Bound about Robert’s brother, Josh. Great tease!
Deim Dyler –
I hadn’t read any books taking place during the civil war and this one didn’t disappoint. The factual history was spot on, bringing the story to life without getting bogged down. Ms Russell kept the war as the backdrop, not using it as a history lesson. Dialogue was believable, pace, fast, characters came to life. I highly recommend Destinies Intertwined. I’m reading Honor Bound now. Wow! Talk about grabbing the reader’s attention by adding chapter one at the end of Destinies Intertwined. A tease you won’t be able to pass up!
H Deily –

Story telling at its best! ! Robert and Bond. What a fantastic, riveting story that takes place during the Civil War. Ms. Russell gives enough of the war that you ‘see’ it unfolding but not so much that it detracts from the love story. The secondary characters are just wonderful! Her relatives in the south, you can ‘hear’ their southern twang. You can ‘smell’ the death. You can ‘feel’ all the emotions people no doubt struggled with between 1861-1865. You won’t want to put this story down, I swear. And as an extra treat, we get to read the first chapter in the sequel, Honor Bound, the continuing story but with Robert’s brother Josh as the hero. I can’t wait!

From Virginia to New Orleans back to Virginia through the perils of the Civil War. Such a harrowing time in American history, still love blooms and grows even during hardship. Such is the tale between Bond Stockard and Robert Ashley. And let’s not for Robert’s brother; Josh. Speaking of which. The first chapter of Josh’s story; Honor Bound is as gripping as Destinies Intertwined.

A jewel among a plethora of overused, repeated plots. I didn’t even mind it was told using an overview where I got to enjoy several characters thoughts. That gave depth to the story. Any serious reader needs to add this novel to their collection.
Dana Mark (verified owner) –
A good read where you want to snuggle under the covers with a cold glass of wine. I literally couldn’t put the book down. Some scenes were so incredibly sad that they made me cry. This book is the whole package. I bought at the same time as the sequel. Honor Bound I’m starting that this weekend.

Can I get a roaring applause for a story extremely exciting & well written? Bond, I’ve never read of that name. Oh, & you’ll love every character, even the evil ones you love to hate.
Christmas P (verified owner) –
I had to give five stars for this story! I was hooked from page one. Looking forward to the sequel of the step-brother.
Ceilia Masters (verified owner) –
Story telling at its best! I was excited to read a romance that takes place during the Civil War. There’s very few out there and the one’s I found were not near as well written as this one. It caught my attention quickly then I couldn’t put it down. I’ll definitely be buying the sequel!

Bond, the perfect blend of fieriness & femininity. Robert, a man of decisive decision making. Josh, a combination of rural meets well educated. Amanda, best mother ever. Claudia, a bitch you’ll love to hate. Leo, a unique attorney, both delicate & fierce. The Stockards, a family struggling to survive the horrors of war. Justin, the man who causes the whole story to develop. If not for his wickedness, Bond never would have been forced to leave during a storm. She wouldn’t have met Robert. She wouldn’t have been forced to sneak her way, with the help of a loyal, free servant, Frances, to the deep south to reunite with the only family she has left. Steven, a serious pursuer to Bond. Bessie, a female servant Bond helps to free from slavery. A super great story.
Katonia Noble (verified owner) –
Ms. Russell states this is the first story she had published. If this is any indication of her talent, the rest should be best sellers. I was right there in that overturned carriage with Bond, hearing the wind blow. Feeling that cold cut through my clothes. And Robert. Hunky hunky. Ok, maybe he shouldn’t have taken advantage of Bond in her vulnerable state. But it’s completely believable how it happened. After all. Men are men. And few men can turn down a beautiful woman in her moment of need. The rest of the story is just icing on a very delicious cake. Enjoy! I did!

Totally believable, from page one onward. It was fast paced. Full of unique characters, & plot twists. This story delivered!!!!
