Description

Ariel Lilian Dunsmore has been pledged to Marques Brandon Sutton since birth. She has not seen her betrothed since the age of eleven, thus when they are wed by proxy, their adult appearance is a mystery to each other. She grudgingly accepts her mother-in-law’s outlandish plan believing her husband loathes her for their forced marriage. Hoping for love to blossom, she replaces his dismissed (secretly by her mother-in-law) mistress.

Although Brandon Sutton has always loved Ariel, his pride chaffs at their fathers predestining their lives disregarding their desires. Thus, once wed, he’s torn between worshiping his bride, and proving he’s free to live life as he chooses.

Howbeit, once his wife arrives fully clad in mourning black because of her mother’s recent death, he finds himself intrigued. Despite a clumsy and painful wedding night in the dark, Brandon’s determined to keep his wife.

A series of misunderstanding cause Ariel to flee and begin her reluctant life as her husband’s mistress. While Brandon frantically searches for his wayward wife, he finds himself enmeshing with his new mistress, Lily Wilmington.

Both experiencing rampant emotions. Love, lust, and guilt make it near impossible to escape the webs of deceit they’ve woven. Yet for their marriage to succeed, they must find a way.

    I must admit I was shocked by the ‘newlyweds night of cementing their union’. It was- different from anything I’ve every read. And I actually liked that it was so different. I like that Ms. Russell always adds elements that are surprising.

    Highly unusual ‘first sex scene’. But it certainly set the pace for the rest of the story. And as usual. Ms. Russell’s secondary characters are as much funny as the hero/heroine are. Love how the ending leads to the sequel! Hopes she gets it written soon!

    While Brandon & Ariel/Lilly are dynamic characters, Soyna-Brandon & Kent’s mother, & Kent, Brandon’s brother, bring loads of entertainment! Even the household servants are funny. A complete read.

    I really enjoyed this story of love conquering all. Love the hero and heroine. Oh, and Brandon’s brother, Kent. What a hoot he is! Their mother is a sharp witted lady who does what she must to bring happiness to her family.

    There’s a lot of humor in this book and I like that. Ariel is a strong female character who learns how to use her womanly wiles to seduce Brandon. And oh my, Brandon is teased to his limit. He loves his wife but finds himself falling for his mistress; Lilly-aka Ariel who is pretending to be his private ‘whore’. Emotions run high and both are caught up in their lies. But when Ariel’s life is in danger, Brandon’s willing to do anything to save her.

    Ariel Lillian Dunsmore Sutton, although coerced into being Brandon’s mistress to win her husband’s heart by her mother-in-law, she plays the part with gusto. lol Witty dialogue, touching scenes and a fast pace you’ll be happy to race alongside. The ending starts their voyage to find Brandon’s younger brother, Captain Christopher Sutton who was banished to a penal colony for accusations of treason…. can’t wait for that book to be released.

    I admit I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I became em-messed in this story. Very fast paced, delightful tense scenes, unusual love making scene, the emotional push and pull, the struggles. It’s just a wonderful story, cleverly written. I highly recommend it.

    The Wayward Wife was so much fun to read. I laughed so many times. Cute scenarios, constant temptation, moral dilemmas, typical family teasing and bickering. The wedding night sex scene was definitely unexpected and different from any I’ve EVER read. I liked that!

    I read a lot and generally speaking in each novel I read, there’s at least one character I hate. Absolutely hate! Ha! In the Wayward Wife, Only two characters came close to achieving that emotion. What I did find, to my delight, that I loved most of the characters! Each had odd quirks that blended seamlessly together throughout the book. Brilliant! Simply brilliant!

    Okay, Brandon wants to marry the love of his life Ariel. And Ariel wants to be married to Brandon. But both have too much pride & lack communication to start their marriage off right. That and both are angry their fathers forced this arrangement when both were children. Instead you have secrets, lies, disappearances, the evil protagonist, kidnapping…whew! And that’s just a FEW of the many events this story has to offer. A fantastic read!
